Born in Hsinchu County, Chen Chien-An is currently studying at the National Taiwan Sport University. In 2008, he became the men's singles champion in the 6th World Junior Table Tennis Championships in Madrid, Spain, becoming the first Taiwanese player to receive this award. In 2013, Chien-An and Chuang Chih-Yuan won the men's doubles for Taiwan for the first time in the World Table Tennis Championships. Chien-An has also won bronze and silver medals in various tournaments in Japan, Qatar, Hungary and South Korea. At the Taipei 2017 29th Summer Universiade he won bronze, and also took home a silver medal in the mixed doubles in the World Table Tennis Championships. Chien-An is now making every effort to win more medals for Taiwan.
