Boo Junfeng

Film-maker

A motion picture prodigy, Boo Junfeng, with a never-ending list of films since his directorial debut in 2010, has emerged as the forefront of Singaporean cinema. Junfeng’s directorial debut, Sandcastles made Singaporean cinematic history as the first Singaporean film to be invited to the International Critics' Week at Cannes Film Festival. Since then, Junfeng has been accumulating what some might call a laundry list of directorial film awards: the 2013 President’s Young Talents Credit Suisse Artist Commissioning Award for a video art piece, Mirror; his second feature film Apprentice was selected to be screened at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival; in 2016 he received the coveted award of Rising Director at the 21st Busan International Film Festival. In short, to say that he has come to has come to embody the new era of Singaporean cinema might still be an understatement.
