It should come as no surprise that Reza Rahadian is regarded as one of the most recognisable faces in Indonesia. His acting career launched because of the coverage he received as the 2004 Top Guest winner, an award for models although he himself never was one. As a method actor, Reza has starred in many genres over the years, ranging from dramas and romances to biopics, the latter in which he played Indonesia’s former president B.J. Habibie, a performance that garnered prestigious accolades at the 58th Indonesian Film Festival in 2012. The most sought-after actor in Indonesia is not only known for his big-screen roles but also for his characters on television and his commanding theatrical play Bunga Penutup Abad in 2016. He has been nominated and received many Best Actor awards from 2009 to present, including the 6th Maya Awards in 2017. Reza was a public ambassador for the United Nations Development Program “Bring Water for Life”, and created a short film about the Sumba villagers who have to trek 10km by foot for fresh water.
