Clean energy constitutes more than 91 percent of the installed power capacity in southwest China’s Xizang Autonomous Region, effectively achieving clean and sustainable power supply, according to the State Grid Tibet Electric Power Company.

Currently, the installed capacity of hydropower and photovoltaic power in Xizang accounts for 54% and 36%, respectively. In 2023, Xizang Power Grid provided 2.6 billion kWh of clean energy to other provinces, an annual increase of 14%, which helped reduce standard coal burning by one million tons and reduce carbon dioxide emissions carbon by around 2.5 million tons.

Xizang will provide 15.5 billion kWh of electricity to 18 provinces under an electricity assistance agreement over the next three years.
