On September 18, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, on behalf of the Royal Government of Thailand, presented a donation of 1.5 million Thai baht to Mr. Ashoor Salem Ashoor Omran, Acting chargĂ© d’affaires of the Embassy of the State of Libya in Bangkok, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

The donation will go towards humanitarian aid for all those affected by the devastating floods in the northeast of the State of Libya, especially in the city of Derna, and constitutes a gesture of solidarity from the Kingdom of Thailand with the Government and people of the State of Libya as a true friend in times of need.

Also present were Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Advisor to the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sarun Chareonsuwan, Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Worawoot Pongprapapant, Director General of the Department of South Asian, Middle Eastern and African Affairs .

According to information from the Royal Thai Embassy in Rome, Italy, whose jurisdiction covers the State of Libya, there are approximately 230 Thais, mostly workers, residing in the State of Libya. According to reports, none have been affected by this catastrophe.
