Both viewership and viewership of this year’s Spring Festival television gala, which aired on Friday night, the eve of the Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, reached record highs, according to statistics.

As of midnight on Friday, about 680 million people had watched the live broadcast of the gala, an annual commemorative program staged and televised by China Media Group, resulting in more than 1.5 billion views, an increase annual rate of 13%.

A total of 250 million people watched the live broadcast of the show via their mobile phones, with total views reaching 420 million, an increase of 38% and 58% respectively compared to 2023.

The event also generated more than 16 billion posts across social media platforms. The China Global Television Network (CGTN) worked with more than 2,000 media organizations in nearly 200 countries and regions to live broadcast or cover the program – attracting more than 800 million international views.
