The Italian Trade Commission (ICE) in Vietnam and the National Association of Italian Footwear, Leather Goods and Tanning Technologies Manufacturers (ASSOMAC) inaugurated a pavilion to present the latest wood products and technologies.

The pavilion is part of the 15th Vietnam International Wood Industry Fair (VietnamWood 2023) and Vietnam International Furniture Accessories, Hardware and Tools Exhibition (Furnitec 2023), which opened in Ho Chi Minh on the 20th. September and will last until the 23rd of the same month.

ICE Director Fabio De Cillis said his office supports Italian companies in searching for Vietnamese partners who have the potential to import wood processing machines and equipment from Italy.

ICE also strives to establish cooperative relationships with organizations and agencies to better connect the business communities of both countries.

The Italian and Vietnamese economies are similar and complementary. Vietnam is currently Italy’s largest trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Italy is Vietnam’s 4th trading partner in the EU. This represents a strong motivation for the development of the industries of Vietnam and Italy in general and the wood sectors in particular.

The Vietnamese real estate market is closely related to the wood industry, particularly furniture manufacturing. Therefore, Italian companies hope to provide Vietnamese partners with the necessary technology to meet production and business requirements, he said.

ICE also strives to establish cooperative relationships with organizations and agencies to better connect the business communities of both countries.

Furthermore, Italy is famous for heritage restoration and jewelry, while Vietnam pays more and more attention to those fields to preserve its important cultural and historical values.

On the other hand, Italian companies also have strengths in the green economy and the circular economy, particularly in the development of infrastructure, energy and electric vehicles.

VietnamWood 2023 attracted 320 exhibitors from 28 countries and territories. They showed complete automatic production lines and integration of logging systems focused on digital transformation.

It also featured eight pavilions from Germany, Austria, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Russia and Taiwan.
