“The future holds countless opportunities for cooperation between Brazil and China,” Jucélia Oliveira Freitas, a state deputy for the Republicans party in Rio de Janeiro, told Xinhua during her second trip to the Asian country. “I believe this cooperation will continue to grow and diversify, benefiting not only our two countries but also contributing to a more prosperous and interconnected world.”

The lawmaker attended the second session of the 2024 Friendly Exchange Forum among Lawmakers, themed “Revitalizing the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development,” held by the Chinese People’s Friendship Association with Overseas Countries (CPAFFC) in Shanghai on Tuesday. The event was attended by 49 current and former lawmakers from 43 countries.

“I was deeply impressed by China’s rapid development,” Jucélia said. “The changes have been enormous and far-reaching in terms of innovation, ecological development, rural revitalization, among others.”

At the exhibition hall of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, China’s largest automaker based in Shanghai, Jucélia got into a new model of new energy vehicle (NEV) to try out driving. “The operating panel is all sensitive, and the vehicle is 100 percent electric powered, which is not yet common in Brazil,” said the state deputy.

“The renewable energy sector is a symbol of China’s rapid development,” she said, adding that Brazil still has a long way to go in terms of increasing its wind and hydropower generation capacity to meet the demands. “China’s renewable energy production technology is already quite mature; I hope we can make more cooperation in this area, realizing green and sustainable development.”
