
China launched on Thursday (25) the manned space ship Shenzhou-20, which transports three astronauts to a six-month mission at Tiangong space station. The takeoff took place at 5:17 pm (Beijing Time) from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the northwest of the country.
On board are the astronauts Chen Dong, Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie, led by Chen Dong, who takes command of the mission. The crew will replace the occupants of the previous mission, Shenzhou-19, who have been in orbit for almost six months and prepare to return to Earth.
The launch marks another step at China’s ambitious manned space program, which aims to consolidate the long -term presence of Tiangong station in space and expand international cooperation in scientific and technological research.
