Ingredients
- Massa

2 cups of wheat flour

1 teaspoon of salt

1/2 cup cold butter, cut into cubes

4 to 6 tablespoons of ice water
- Filling

2 cans of sardines in oil, drained and shredded

1 medium onion chopped

2 cloves of garlic, chopped

1 chopped tomato (optional)

1/2 chopped pepper (optional)

Chopped olives to taste

Chopped parsley and chives to taste

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon of olive oil

Preparation mode
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- For the dough, in a bowl, mix the wheat flour and salt. Add the cold butter and mix with your fingertips until you have a crumb-like texture. Add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough starts to come together. Form the dough into a ball, wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
- While the dough is resting in the fridge, prepare the filling. In a frying pan, heat the oil and sauté the onion and garlic until golden. Add the tomato and pepper, if using, and sauté for a few more minutes. Add the shredded sardines, olives, parsley, chives, salt and pepper. Cook for a few more minutes, stirring well. Reserve.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and line the bottom and sides of a pie dish.
- Spread the sardine filling over the dough.
- In a bowl, beat the eggs, milk, salt and pepper. Pour this mixture over the filling in the mold.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 30 to 40 minutes, or until the pie is golden and firm.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
