Chinese Premier Li Qiang reinforced his call on Monday for firm implementation of the Communist Party of China’s strategic policy of full and strict self-government, and emphasized the need for further progress in improving party conduct, in defending integrity and combating corruption within the government.

Li, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the comments at a State Council meeting on clean governance. Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister recognized the progress that governments at all levels and their departments have made over the past year in improving party conduct, upholding integrity and combating corruption.

He called for strict adherence to political discipline and rules, and urged governments at all levels and their departments to focus on rectifying corruption in key areas, removing reasons that fuel corruption by deepening reform, and ensuring that prevention work of corruption is consistent and sustained.
