China recorded 474 million domestic tourist trips during the eight-day Spring Festival holiday that ended on Saturday, an increase of 34 percent year on year, according to data released by the country’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Sunday.

Tourists spent nearly 633 billion yuan ($89.07 billion) on their domestic holiday trips, up 47 percent year on year, data showed.

The Chinese mainland recorded 3.6 million tourist departures and 3.23 million tourist arrivals during the eight-day holiday, as favorable policies such as mutual visa exemptions accelerated the recovery of outbound tourist markets and entry.

During the holiday, 16,300 commercial performances were held across the country, raising 778 million yuan, an increase of 52 percent and 81 percent year on year, respectively. The presentations attracted more than 6.6 million spectators, an annual increase of 77.7%, according to the ministry.
