The 18th Summit of the Group of 20 (G20) will be held on Saturday and Sunday in New Delhi, India.

In past summits, China has not stopped insisting that it firmly defends multilateralism, opposing unilateralism and protectionism. At a press conference on Monday, the country’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning called for strengthening the partnership at this year’s summit, against a backdrop of growing global challenges.

Created in 1999, the G20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation. It is made up of 19 countries plus the European Union. G20 members represent around 85% of global GDP, more than 75% of global trade and approximately two-thirds of the world’s population.
