From June 14 to 18, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Department of Information, in collaboration with the Royal Thai Consulate General in Shanghai, the Ministry of Culture, the Thai Film Office (TFO) and the Center of Shanghai Thai Commerce, invited Thai businessmen to attend the 26th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) and organized side events in Shanghai.
On June 15, 2024, a business networking event titled “Creativity Unleashed: Strengthening the Partnership between Thailand and China in the Film and Content Industry” was held at the Royal Thai Consulate General in Shanghai to reinforce the relations between Thai and Chinese film industry entrepreneurs after the first edition held in Beijing in April 2024. 14 Thai companies presented their film-related companies to the 57 participating Chinese counterparts/companies.

From June 16 to 18, 2024, the Thai pavilion at the Shanghai International Film Festival film market proactively promoted the Thai content industry and filming opportunities in Thailand, resulting in a total investment value of more of 2.24 billion baht.
Additionally, four Thai films were selected for screening at the festival: The Undertaker, NOT FRIENDS, Home for Rent and Mantra Warrior: Legend of the Eight Moons. The Undertaker and NOT FRIENDS were screened at the Thai Movie Premiere Night event, co-organized by the Royal Thai Consulate General in Shanghai on June 14, 2024 at the Hongqiao Art Center, and attracted a large number of media representatives Chinese and locals.

This project is part of Thai cultural diplomacy, which aims to increase Thailand’s popularity globally, especially in the content industry, provide opportunities for the Thai private sector abroad, and strengthen the long-standing relations between Thailand and China, especially interpersonal level.
