President Xi Jinping called on Monday for the advancement of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) self-reform and victory in the tough and prolonged battle against corruption. Xi made the remarks when speaking at the third plenary of the 20th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCID).
After persistent anti-corruption efforts in the past ten years of this new era, an overwhelming victory has been achieved in the fight against corruption, with gains fully consolidated, Xi said. “But the situation remains serious and complex,” he noted.
Members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi and Ding Xuexiang attended the meeting.
Xi noted that 2023 marks the first year that the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress are implemented on all fronts. The Central Committee unswervingly promoted the Party’s self-reform and deepened its efforts to promote the Party’s full and strict self-governance, which ensured that the new journey got off to a good start, he said.
