Chinese President Xi Jinping extended congratulations on the complete success of the Chang’e-6 mission on Tuesday, which brought back the world’s first samples taken from the far side of the Moon.

On behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, the State Council and the Central Military Commission, Xi extended warm congratulations and sincere greetings to the Chang’e-6 mission headquarters and all those who participated in the mission in a message of congratulations.

The return capsule of the Chang’e-6 probe, carrying samples from the Moon, landed in the flag-designated area of ​​Siziwang, north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, on Tuesday.

Xi highlighted that for the first time in human history, Chang’e-6 collected samples from the far side of the Moon and returned to Earth, marking another historic achievement in China’s drive to become a space and science and technology powerhouse.

Over the past 20 years, everyone involved in the lunar exploration project has reached the heights of science and technology and achieved remarkable achievements that have drawn worldwide attention, Xi said. “The excellent contributions you made will always be remembered by the country and the people”, he added.
