Parliamentarians from around the world gathered in New Delhi on October 12, 2023 to deliberate on strategies to promote sustainable lifestyles and combat climate change, at the Parliamentary Forum on LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment).
The LiFE Mission Forum precedes the 9th two-day G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit (P20 Summit) to be held on 13-14 October 2023 at the newly built International Convention Center and Indian Exhibitions (IICC) at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi. The LiFE movement, launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in June 2022, is a global effort dedicated to championing sustainable lifestyles and safeguarding our environment.
The Parliamentary Forum on LiFE is of substantial importance as it provides a platform for parliamentarians to exchange ideas and share successful approaches in promoting sustainable living. Additionally, it will play a key role in raising awareness of the LiFE movement and its overall goals.
The Indian Prime Minister will inaugurate the 9th Summit of G20 Parliamentary Speakers
Sr. Arthur César Pereira de Lira, President of the Chamber of Deputies, Brazil; Rt. Hon. Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, United Kingdom; SE Dr. Ashebiri Gayo, acting president of the Pan African Parliament; SE Mrs. Ana Lilia Rivera Rivera, president of the Senate, Mexico; SE Sr. Kim Jin-pyo, President of the National Assembly, Republic of Korea; SE Sr. Amos Masondo, President of the National Council of Provinces, South Africa; SE Sr. ShaikhKim Jin-pyo, President of the National Assembly, Republic of Korea; SE Sr. Amos Masondo, President of the National Council of Provinces, South Africa; SE Sr. Shaikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council, Oman; SE Sr. Duarte Pacheco, president of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, attended the Summit.
Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Speaker of the Parliament of Bangladesh, arrived on 10 October 2023. The Speakers of both Houses of the Parliament of Australia, namely the Honorable Senator Sue Lines, President of the Senate of Australia, and the Honorable Milton Dick , Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives, arrived in New Delhi on 7 October 2023 to attend the Summit.

The two-day Summit will deliberate on the 2030 Agenda for the SDGs: showcasing achievements, accelerating progress; the transition towards sustainable energy, the door to a green future; mainstreaming gender equality: from women’s development to women-led development; and the transformation of people’s lives through public digital platforms.
These issues underscore the immediate imperative to address the critical global issues we face today. Together, they encompass a holistic strategy aimed at creating a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable future that benefits everyone.
