A study of Automation Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciencespublished no Journal of Neurosciencerevealed the relationship between the structure of human cerebral cortex connections and genetic characteristics. The research points out that organization of neural networks It follows a genetic “project” during embryonic development, shaping the way the brain connects and processes information.

Scientists identified three main topological axes that govern brain connectivity: sterral, anteroposterior and medial-lateral. These standards reflect the organization of cortical connections and align with genetic and morphogenetic gradients of embryonic development.

The discovery suggests that, despite the complexity of neural networks, the genetics guides the formation of brain connections through simplified rulesinfluencing brain development in an orderly manner. The study opens new possibilities to understand neurological disorders and the impact of genetics on human cognition.
