BYD, the giant Chinese electric vehicles, officially delivered by Tuesday by BYD Shenzhen, the world’s largest vehicle transport ship in terms of capacity in the city of Yizheng, Jiangsu Province. The vessel, which can carry up to 9,200 cars, is moved to liquefied natural gas (LNG) and should leave this week towards Brazil.
219 meters long and 37.7 meters wide, the freighter represents a milestone in the BYD globalization strategy. According to Wang Junbao, general manager of the company’s public affairs division, the vessel acts as a “sea bridge” between Chinese innovation and the international market, focusing on stable and low carbon logistics.
BYD currently operates three Roll-On/Roll-off ships and, in the first quarter of 2025, exported more than 25,000 electric vehicles. Brazil has been consolidated as a priority destination: the country received 76.7 thousand units of the brand in 2024, with annual growth of 328%. BYD SHENZHEN is expected to further expand this presence in the Brazilian market.
