This year marks PETRONAS’ 50th anniversary, marking five decades of leadership in the global energy industry. Since its creation in 1974 as the regulator of Malaysia’s oil resources, the company has grown to become one of the leading energy multinationals, standing out on the FORTUNE Global 500®. With a presence in more than 20 countries, its history began in Argentina in 2008 with the global merger and has since been gaining ground in the local market.

A journey towards global excellence

Through its innovative vision, the company moved from regulating Malaysia’s oil resources to unlocking their full potential, establishing a model that allowed the country to take control of its destiny in the industry. This pioneering approach not only strengthened Malaysia as an oil producer, but also positioned it as a key player on the global energy stage.

Today, the company extends its operations to more than 20 countries, managing 224 production fields, 451 offshore platforms and 34 floating facilities. This growth not only reflects the company’s technical and operational capacity, but also its commitment to communities and
markets where it operates.

It produces and markets a complete range of automotive and industrial fluids of the highest quality, in more than 80 markets around the world, being TOP 10 globally in terms of volume.

In addition, PETRONAS Lubricants International is the technology partner of the AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, responsible for the conception, development and delivery of Fluid Technology Solutions™, with lubricants, fuel and transmission fluids to maximise performance on the track.
