German automaker BMW announced on Friday that it will deepen her collaboration with Chinese technology giant bytedance, owner of Tiktok, to boost the use of artificial intelligence in marketing and customer service in China. The partnership will be focused on the application of large language models, via Volcano Engine, bytedance’s cloud platform.
BMW’s Digital Lingyue Subsidiary in the country will be responsible for integrating these technologies with the brand’s personalized marketing tools. The goal is to offer a smarter vehicle buying experience and increase efficiency in consumer services.
Collaboration is part of BMW’s Global AI strategy, which seeks to incorporate technology on all business fronts. “Cooperation with Bytedance is an essential step of our AI strategy,” said Sean Green, CEO of BMW Group China.
The automaker has expanded its operations in the Chinese market, with about 460 local suppliers and recent partnerships with giants such as Alibaba and Huawei. Together, these alliances reinforce China’s position as a global technology innovation hub and expand BMW’s role in the digital transformation of the automotive industry.
