Xiong’an New Area, located in north China’s Hebei Province, has recorded a total installed clean energy capacity of more than 150,000 kilowatts to date, State Grid Hebei Electric Power said.

In just the first two months of this year, the area added nearly 13,000 kilowatts of installed clean energy capacity, an increase of more than 255% over the same period last year.

The company is currently working on researching essential technologies and applying new platforms; accelerating the construction of the distributed photovoltaic planning and development analysis platform; and introducing advanced energy storage technologies and smart grid technologies to ensure the stable and efficient supply and utilization of new energy.

In April 2017, China announced a plan to establish the Xiong’an New Area, which encompasses the cities of Rongcheng, Anxin and Xiongxian, as well as some adjacent areas in Hebei Province.

The new area aims to relieve Beijing of non-essential functions related to its status as the country’s capital and at the same time promote the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
