Deputy Foreign Minister Pahala Mansury has encouraged the Government and private sector of Tanzania to participate in the 2nd Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) to be held in Bali from 1 to 3 September 2024.

In a meeting with Tanzanian Deputy Minister for State Planning and Investment Stanslaus Nyongo, the Deputy Minister said that the 2nd FAI will be a good opportunity to start bilateral negotiations on investment treaties.

During the meeting, Pahala also discussed the monitoring of Indonesian investments in Tanzania, especially in the oil and gas sector and in the manufacturing industry. Both also agreed on the need to explore potential investment sectors, such as critical minerals, renewable energy, agriculture and healthcare.

On the other hand, Deputy Foreign Minister Pahala met with Tanzanian Minister of Minerals Anthony P. Mavunde (MP) to discuss the already established cooperation between Indonesia and Tanzania, especially in investment and capacity building in the minerals sector. Both sides agreed to cooperate in processing critical minerals to increase value addition and to be part of the supply chain for batteries for electric vehicles. They also explored cooperation in the development of artisanal mining and high-resolution airborne geological surveys.

Both also agreed on the need to explore possible investment sectors, such as critical minerals, renewable energy, agriculture and health.

To conclude the first day of his visit, Deputy Foreign Minister Pahala met with a number of Indonesian and Tanzanian businessmen and individuals to encourage participation in IAF-2.
