Hot hole is a simple and delicious recipe, ideal to serve as a snack or side dish. Here’s a basic recipe for making hot hole:


  • 500g ground meat (can be beef or pork)

  • 1 large chopped onion

  • 2 cloves of garlic, chopped

  • 2 ripe tomatoes, chopped

  • 1 chopped green pepper

  • 1 tablespoon of oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • French bread (or other bread of your choice)

Preparation mode

  • In a pan, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until they are golden.
  • Add the ground beef to the pan and stir well, breaking up any larger pieces with a wooden spoon. Cook until the meat is well browned.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes and peppers to the pan, and continue stirring for a few more minutes until the vegetables are soft.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, and let it cook for a few more minutes to enhance the flavor.
  • Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Cut the French bread in half, lengthwise, and remove some of the crumb to create a “hole” in the center of each half.
  • Place the bread halves on a baking tray and bake for a few minutes so they become slightly crispy.
  • Remove the bread from the oven and fill each half with the prepared ground meat.
  • Serve immediately while hot.
