Extremadura has become the epicenter of the debate on the future of electric mobility by hosting the 1st International Forum on Electric Mobility, an event that has brought together Chinese and European experts and professionals from the automotive industry and the electrical sector.

Organized by the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Digital Transformation of the Government of Extremadura, through INVEST IN EXTREMADURA, and with the collaboration of NI HAO CONECTA (NHC), the forum has been the scene of reflections on the trends and challenges that mark the international order in this cutting-edge sector.

The event was inaugurated with words of welcome from the president of the Autonomous Community of Extremadura, María Guardiola Martín, and included the participation of prominent personalities such as Rebeca Mariola Torró Soler, Secretary of State for Industry of the Government of Spain, and Mark Nicklas, Head of the Mobility Unit of the General Directorate of Industry, Internal Market, SMEs and Entrepreneurship of the European Commission.

During the event, the Minister of Economy, Employment and Digital Transformation, Guillermo Santamaría, highlighted that “Extremadura is the best place in the world to set up an electric vehicle factory due to the excellent conditions of this land.” The region has competitive advantages such as a high intensity of photovoltaic solar energy, with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine per year, almost 1,000 hectares of developed and available industrial land, and the greatest aid for large companies in all of Spain.

From China, presidents and representatives of electric automotive companies, manufacturers and auxiliaries traveled to Mérida to participate in the forum. Among the Chinese entities present were HRC, Skywell New Energy Vehicles Group, Rept Battero Energy, Fujian Super Power Energy, Ganfeng LiEnergy, DongguanShenHe New Energy Technology, YUTONG Bus, HUAWEI, Asia Pacific Exchange & Cooperation Foundation (APECF) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT).

On the European side, the event was attended by companies such as VELCA, Finnova, Extremadura New Energies and ACCIONA Mobility, among others. Experts such as Emilio Froján, CEO of Velca, Jordi Aranega, vice president of HRC, Juan Manuel Revuelta, CEO of Finnova, Eugenio Mallol, Innovation expert, and Javier Yraola Martorell, project director of Invest in Spain, ICEX, shared their points of view. view on the future of electric mobility.

In addition to the interventions of authorities and business leaders, the forum provided opportunities for networking and the exchange of ideas among attendees, who enjoyed cocktails where local products were offered.

By holding this event, Extremadura has demonstrated its leadership in the debate on the transition towards more sustainable mobility, attracting key industry players at a national and international level.
