China has launched a campaign to pool the strength of academics and experts to promote the popularization of high-quality domestic science.
The “Science and China” lecture series was held at a launch ceremony on Saturday, calling on professionals from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (ACC) and Chinese Academy of Engineering (ACE) to play a leading role in the cause of national popularization of science and to promote international exchanges and cooperation.
The initiative aims to make more than a thousand academics from the two institutes, in more than a thousand scientific popularization activities per year, tell the stories of China’s innovation. At the first reporting meeting held on Saturday, eight ACC and ACE academics reported on astronomy, geography, life and information.
The “Science and China” lecture series by scholars and experts was launched in December 2002. Since then, more than 2,000 science popularization activities have been carried out across the country.
