China helped the United States in the search for remains of US soldiers from World War II in Chinese territory, said a spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense.

Zhang Xiaogang said that in coordination with China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and military departments, the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency under the US Department of Defense sent a team to conduct on-site research in Guangxi and Hunan, China .

These on-site searches mark the first joint efforts between the two countries in searching for missing U.S. military personnel since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Zhang said.
