Brazil’s Minister of Agriculture, Carlos Fávaro, said the country is “about to open the Chinese market for DDG”, a by -product of ethanol production used as animal feed. The statement was made during the 2nd International Conference Unem Datagro on Corn Ethanol, held in Cuiabá (MT), according to the Xinhua agency.

Fávaro pointed out that the Brazilian DDG is already exported to 18 countries – 14 of these recently opened markets, such as Mexico, Canada, the United Kingdom and Vietnam. For the minister, entry to China will make the sector “even more sustainable.”

Brazil has been consolidated as one of the global leaders in biofuels, with increasing integration between the agricultural and energy sectors. Fávaro also celebrated advances in beef export and the signing of a memo with Japan, which provides for a gradual increase in the use of ethanol in gasoline by 2040.

According to the minister, the global biofuels market will remain expanding, and Brazil will be protagonist: “the new OPEC will be built in the countryside”.
