Chinese President Xi Jinping asked on Wednesday that Jiangsu province, an economic power in eastern China, plays an important role in the country’s general development.
XI, also secretary general of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CCCH) and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the observations by participating in a deliberation with fellow Jiangsu legislators during the third session of the 14th National Popular Assembly (APN), the China National Legislature.
Jiangsu should take the lead in promoting the integration of technological and industrial innovation, the impulse of deep reforms and the opening of a high standard and the implementation of the main strategies of national development, and to give an example in creating prosperity for all, Xi said.
After hearing the presentations of several APN deputies, Xi said that technological innovation and industrial innovation constitute the fundamental paths for the development of new quality productive forces.
To advance technological innovation, it is essential to modernize the industrial system and coordinate education, science and technology and talent formation, Xi said, asking for more scientific and technological advances to be achieved and transformed into concrete productive forces.
XI asked the province to further deepen reform and openness. It is necessary to keep in mind national and international imperatives, to promote urban-rural integration and regional coordination, optimize the layout of productive forces and strive to promote high quality development, he said.
He added that equal treatment should be guaranteed for companies with all forms of property and that continuous efforts should be made to improve the business environment.
XI has asked the province to make proactive and coordinated efforts for the integrated development of the Yangtzé River Delta, the development of the Yangtzé River economic belt and the implementation of other development strategies.
Jiangsu should strengthen his alignment with strategies such as the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the development of the large area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay, and have a deep involvement in high quality belt and route cooperation, Xi said.
He also emphasized continuous efforts to promote rural vitalization in every way and integrated urban-rural development, as well as to consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty eradication.
