China’s Cinturão and Rota (ICR) initiative complements Brazil’s development strategies in areas such as infrastructure, commerce, sustainable energy and technological innovation, Jorge Viana, president of Apexbrasil, said in an interview with Chinese news agency Xinhua. The alignment between ICR and Brazilian programs, such as PAC and the Nova Indústria Brasil Plan, aims to modernize the two countries and strengthen regional interconnectivity.
In infrastructure, Brazil seeks investments for ports and railways, such as the logistics corridor that will connect Brazilian agribusiness to the port of Chancay, Peru, funded by Chinese companies. In commerce, the growth of the Chinese economy opens new opportunities for Brazilian exporters, with emphasis on coffee, a sector that will benefit from an Apexbrasil agreement with Luckin Coffee.
In addition, Brazil intends to modernize its industry and reduce the dependence on commodity exports. According to Viana, the Chinese experience in innovation and technology can be strategic for this transformation, boosting sectors such as fintechs, e -commerce and green economy.
