India supports Bolivia’s accession to the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), according to Indian ambassador Vhisvas Vidu Sapkal in a meeting with the vice president of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, David Choquehuanca.
After presenting the credentials that accredit him as ambassador, the diplomat insisted on supporting Bolivia’s accession to the bloc, which currently also includes Argentina, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia.
“We are committed to working together to strengthen our relationships and carry out initiatives that benefit our people,” said Choquehuanca.

Likewise, Choquehuanca and Sapkal praised the importance of promoting cultural exchange between Bolivia and India and agreed to work on programs and activities to strengthen bilateral relations in this area.
Created in 2006 by Brazil, Russia, India and China, the BRIC group added the letter S to the acronym in 2010 with the integration of South Africa.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bolivia, Celinda Sosa, met on April 26 in Moscow with her Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, to whom she reaffirmed her country’s determination to integrate into the BRICS.
In a press conference with Lavrov, Sosa stated that Bolivia’s accession to the BRICS would not only benefit his country, but would also be an important step for Latin America towards a new, more just and equitable world order.
