Ingredients

  • 300g pasta (can be spaghetti, penne, or your choice)

  • 2 tablespoons of butter

  • 2 tablespoons of wheat flour

  • 2 cups of milk

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 pinch of nutmeg (optional)

  • Grated parmesan cheese for sprinkling (optional)

Preparation mode

  • In a large pot, boil salted water. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and reserve.
  • In another pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir well, cooking for about 1 minute to form a roux (a mixture of butter and flour).
  • Slowly add the milk to the butter and flour mixture, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming. Cook over medium-low heat until the sauce thickens and begins to simmer, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Season the white sauce with salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste. Continue cooking for a few more minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce reaches the desired consistency.
  • Add the cooked pasta to the white sauce, stirring gently to coat all the pasta with the sauce.
  • Transfer the pasta with white sauce to serving plates and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired. Serve it hot.
