A groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Serbian National Stadium by the China Power Construction Corporation (PowerChina) took place this week.
The event was marked by the insertion of a sphere in the foundations of the new building, decorated with signatures of well-known players and managers.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stated that the stadium would be built to the most demanding standards, also providing facilities for the upcoming EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, the new building aims to embody a city within a city.
“This is a significant construction effort,” the Serbian president said in a press release. Chinese Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming thanked the Serbian president and government for supporting Chinese companies. “We are prepared to collaborate with Serbian partners in realizing this contemporary effort,” Li said.
