Tang Hongbo, a crew member of China’s space station, became the longest-serving Chinese astronaut in space, with a total of 215 days in orbit as of Monday.
Tang was taken into space by the Shenzhou-17 spacecraft, together with Tang Shengjie and Jiang Xinlin, on October 26, 2023. Before that, he had already completed a 92-day manned mission in 2021, on the Shenzhou-12 spacecraft.
Of the 20 Chinese astronauts on the country’s space missions, Jing Haipeng and Chen Dong also accumulated stays in orbit of more than 200 days.
