The 5th World Media Summit (WMC) hosted an opening ceremony on Sunday morning in Guangzhou, capital of south China’s Guangdong Province.
With the theme “Raising Global Confidence, Promoting Media Development”, the 5th CMM brought together more than 450 participants from 101 countries and regions, including representatives from 197 major media outlets, think tanks, government agencies and diplomatic missions in China, as well as UN agencies and international organizations.
Hu Heping, deputy chief executive of the Communication Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said in his speech that the 5th WCC is a major event for the global media circle, and called on the media to remain impartial, promote the mutual learning between civilizations and deepen pragmatic cooperation to contribute their wisdom and strength to build a community with a shared future for humanity and also build a better world.
