Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived on Monday Hanoi for a state visit to Vietnam to deepen bilateral ties and propose a new strategic cooperation plan. This is Xi’s fourth official visit to the neighboring country.

Received at the invitation of the Secretary General of the Vietnam Communist Party (PCV), to Lam, and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi said, in a statement at International Airport Noi Bai, that China and Vietnam form a community with a shared future of strategic meaning. He highlighted the historical friendship between the two parties and peoples, forged during common struggles for independence and development.

The visit takes place at a symbolic moment, with the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the China-Vietnam year of interpersonal exchanges. Xi expressed confidence in the continuous progress of Vietnam and said he hopes to strengthen cooperation at all levels. The president also stressed the Chinese commitment to support Vietnam in building a socialist path adapted to his national conditions.

During his stay, Xi Jinping will have meetings with the leading Vietnamese leaders to discuss strategic and regional issues, as well as proposing new initiatives to consolidate the Sino-Vietnamese partnership in various sectors.
