
Chinese President Xi Jinping landed on Wednesday (8) in Moscow for a state visit and to participate in the 80th anniversary celebrations of the Soviet victory in World War II-called in Russia of great patriotic war. In a written statement upon arriving in the country, Xi said that China and Russia “found the right way of interaction between great neighbors.”
According to XI, the two countries cultivate a permanent friendship relationship, comprehensive strategic coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation. For the Chinese leader, this “mature and resilient” partnership not only brings direct benefits to their peoples, but also contributes to global stability.
The president also highlighted the importance of keeping the international system based on the United Nations and international law, as well as opposing hegemonism and the policy of power. He stated that China and Russia are committed to true multilateralism and the construction of fairer global governance.
During the visit, Xi will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss bilateral relations, practical cooperation and international and regional issues of common interest. He will also participate in the traditional Victory Day parade in Moscow, which takes place on May 9.
Xi’s plane was escorted by Russian Air Force fighters upon entering the country’s airspace. At Vnukovo Airport, he was received with honors by vice-minister Tatyana Golikova and other authorities.
The visit reinforces the strategic partnership between China and Russia amid a global scenario marked by tensions and geopolitical changes.
