The new themed area at Shanghai Disney Resort, based on the film “Zootopia”, was officially opened to the public last week. “Our popular film ‘Zootopia’ continues to delight fans around the world, especially in China, and we are excited to offer visitors to Shanghai the chance to interact with the stories and characters they love in innovative ways when they visit this spectacular new area ,” said Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company.
Shanghai Disney Resort opened with six themed lands on June 16, 2016. Its seventh land and first major expansion, Disney Pixar Toy Story Land, opened in 2018, making Shanghai Disneyland the fastest expansion worldwide. “As long as there is imagination and stories in the world, Shanghai Disney Resort will never be complete,” said Josh D’Amaro, president of Disney Experiences.
Shanghai Disneyland has proven to be a huge success. “We are about to close a record here, having already received more than 13 million visitors in 2023”, added D’Amaro.
