Wisma BCA Foresta becomes the first building in Indonesia to obtain the Green Mark Super Low Energy Building certificate

One of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk’s (BCA) office buildings, Wisma BCA Foresta, has received the Green Mark Super Low Energy Building certificate from the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore. This certification has been granted thanks to the success of Wisma BCA Foresta in achieving extraordinary efficiency in the operation of its buildings. Wisma BCA Foresta is the first building in Indonesia to receive the Green Mark Super Low Energy Building certification, based on international Green Mark criteria.

The certificate was granted by the Building and Construction Authority and received by BCA Director Frengky Chandra Kusuma. Wisma BCA Foresta achieved several efficiency parameters that contributed to obtaining certification. A key parameter is the reduction of electrical energy consumption, reaching an efficiency level of more than 60% compared to the standard equivalent building, based on Green Mark measurements in Singapore. In addition, Wisma BCA Foresta meets sustainability standards by promoting a green ecosystem from the planning, design and construction phases to maintenance, which has a direct impact on the building’s energy use.

BCA Director Frengky Chandra Kusuma said: “BCA is proud to receive this certificate as it reflects the company’s hard work to support sustainability efforts in all aspects of business operations. Despite its young age, Wisma BCA Foresta has already won several awards, and this motivates us to continue our commitment to ESG values.”

To support efforts to reduce the carbon footprint and improve energy efficiency, Frengky added, the green building is designed to minimize energy consumption. This is achieved through the application of a building automation system, chiller plant management system, air conditioning systems, and building envelope design and materials that maintain optimal temperature and humidity. The building is also equipped with a reverse osmosis drinking water system, the use of recycled water and the use of rainwater.

The installation of solar panels also helps reduce the use of electricity from fossil fuel sources, making it a comprehensive green building. All these technologies are managed by the Energy Management Team of the BCA Logistics and Construction Division, which contributes to creating an energy efficient building.

Wisma BCA Foresta also offers public facilities, one of which is a Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) for the community. Unsurprisingly, since its inauguration three years ago, the building has gained recognition and appreciation from various parts. Wisma BCA Foresta was named winner of the ASEAN Energy Awards 2023 in the energy efficient buildings category, new and existing buildings subcategory. The building also took first place in the energy efficient buildings category, new buildings subcategory, in the 2022 Subroto Energy Efficiency Award (PSBE).
Additionally, Wisma BCA Foresta obtained a platinum level green building certificate from the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) in the existing building category in 2021.

In line with the achievements of Wisma BCA Foresta, BCA loan disbursements to sustainable sectors also continued to grow. In June 2024, loans to the sustainable sector grew by 9.3% year-on-year to reach Rp 198 trillion. This amount contributed approximately 23.2% to BCA’s total financing portfolio.
