The world’s largest K-pop festival, the K-World Dream Awards 2024, opened on August 22, with hopes of attracting 10 million K-pop tourists to Korea.

Originally known as the Soribada Best K-Music Awards and the K Global Heart Dream Awards, this prestigious event took place at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium, located in Songpa-gu, Seoul. The ceremony is one of the most anticipated moments for K-pop fans, as it brings together some of the most prominent artists in the industry to celebrate the best of Korean music.

This year, the ceremony featured an impressive lineup of stars, including soloists Baekho, Ha Sungwoon, Lee Mujin, Lee Chaeyeon, BIBI, and JD1. In addition, iconic K-pop groups NCT 127, ITZY, TXT, P1Harmony, aespa, Billlie, tripleS, KISS OF LIFE, ZEROBASEONE, QWER, YOUNG POSSE, NCT Wish, ILLIT, UNIS, BADVILLAIN, and Hi-Fi Un! corn participated, capturing the attention of K-pop fans worldwide and reaffirming the importance of these awards in the global music scene.

For the second year in a row, announcer Jeon Hyun Moo and comedian Jang Doyeon, who are considered the “Global Top MCs,” were in charge of hosting the event, adding their touch of humor and charisma, making the ceremony even more entertaining under its new name. During the awards ceremony, special performances were held by each participating group, highlighting the talent and creativity of the artists. Among the rookies, UNIS, a multinational group launched through the audition survival program Universe Ticket, bagged three trophies including the Music Icon Award, the hellolive Global Star Award, and the UPICK Group Popularity Award.

Along with UNIS, EXO also took home the Popularity Awards trophy. Meanwhile, fellow SM members aespa and NCT 127 were crowned best group artists and also made the list of those who took home the bonsang (main award).
