Two earthquakes measuring 6.9 and 7.1 struck southwestern Japan on Thursday, triggering tsunami warnings, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Japanese authorities observed waves 50cm high and were on alert for a tsunami 1m high, Reuters reported.
