Ethereum, one of the largest upgrades since the transition to Proof of Stake in 2022, is expected to improve its scalability, stake limits and wallet functionality.

Why was Pectra postponed?

Initially scheduled for March 2025, Pectra faced certainness problems in Ethereum’s Holesky test network and led to deploying the Hoodi test network to solve the problem. A small problem in Sepolia at the beginning of March was solved before the final test.

Ethereum developers use test networks to try large upgrades before starting the main network. Despite the previous setbacks, Houlesky finally reached certainty on March 10 and opened a way for a finalized main network version.

During a developer meeting on Thursday, Ethereum Foundation researcher Alex Stokes confirmed the new date:

“We will lock on May 7 for Pectra on the main network. Happy Pectra to everyone.”

What changes will Pectra bring?

Pectra upgrade brings many important improvements, including the following:

• Increased Stake Limits: Confirmatory Stake Limits rise from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH and allow larger -scale participation.
• Account abstraction: Users will be able to pay gas fees with more than one token, such as fixed coins instead of being limited to ETH.
• Improved wallet functionality: upgrades for upgrade, social recovery, facilitating the restoration of missing wallet seed expressions.

With the approval of the Pectra upgrade on May 7, Ethereum’s roadmap is progressing, but the price is still faced with macro -origin market prints.
