The Tesla Megafábrica in Shanghai reached its largest export volume in April in April, with almost 30,000 vehicles sent abroad. The result is pulled by the success of the new Y model, which has gained space in markets such as South Korea, Australia and other Asia countries.
Launched globally from China in January this year, the electric SUV caused a real frenzy in South Korea, with lines in stores and Tesla’s official website temporarily out of the air for excess hits. Since the end of 2023, when cars manufactured in China officially arrived in the country, Tesla vehicle records there increased 80%.
According to Tesla China, in the first quarter of 2025 alone, 137,200 units were sold in the Chinese market, exceeding 132,800 from the same period of 2024. The production of the Shanghai factory also grew: more than 172,000 Model 3 and Model Y updated vehicles were delivered in the quarter, highlighting 78,800 units – more than twice the previous month.
Data reinforce the strategic role of Tesla’s Chinese operation as a global export center, especially for Asia-Pacific, consolidating Shanghai as key to the automaker’s international offensive.
