Ingredients

  • 500g fresh strawberries (washed and chopped)

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1/4 cup of water

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence (optional)

Preparation mode

  • Wash the strawberries well, remove the stems and chop them into small pieces.
  • In a pan, add the chopped strawberries, sugar and lemon juice.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juice and begin to soften, about 5-7 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water until completely dissolved.
  • Add the cornstarch mixture to the pan with the strawberries, stirring constantly.
  • Continue cooking and stirring until the mixture thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla extract, if using.
  • Let the filling cool completely before using it in the cake.
