Make this Sponge Cake Dough using the ingredients below and following the step-by-step instructions!

Preparation mode

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a 25cm diameter pan with butter and flour.
  • Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff.
  • In another bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until you get a creamy, whitish mixture. Add the vanilla essence (if using) and mix well.
  • Carefully fold the beaten egg whites into the egg yolk and sugar mixture, alternating with the sifted wheat flour. Do this in gentle, circular motions so as not to lose the volume of the egg whites.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for a few minutes before unmolding.
