Although the situation appeared to have been resolved, the following day, Wednesday, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) website also appeared to be experiencing connection instability issues, which caused the Cyber ​​Operations Command to investigate the issue.

A DDoS attack refers to a situation where a large number of infected devices are used to overwhelm a targeted server or website with a massive volume of traffic.

A military official reported that authorities have blocked the IP addresses of the source of the attack and are currently investigating who could have been behind the attack. The man also noted that such an attack on the ministry’s website is rare.

As we mentioned before, the possibility of an attack of this type was already foreseen. On Monday, the South Korea’s Internet Security Agency had requested local organizations and businesses to increase their data protection preparedness, citing the increasing risks of cyber attacks related to the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia.
