
In honor of International Children’s Day, celebrated on June 1 in China, the three astronauts of the Shenzhou-20 Mission sent special greetings to children in the country directly from the Chinese space station. The message also marked the beginning of the 9th National Congress of Youth Chinese Pioneers (JPC), celebrated with the symbolic to unfurl the flag of the children’s organization aboard the station.
The mission is led by Chen Dong, veteran on space travel, who shared as the pioneer’s red scarf inspired his childhood dreams. “I decided to become someone useful for society when I first used it,” he said. He is in his third mission in space.
His newcomers, Chen Zhongrui and Wang Jie, also reported how childish curiosity guided them to the stars. Chen remembered to watch Shenzhou releases on TV as a child, a passion that shaped his trajectory. Wang highlighted the hymn of young pioneers, who inspired him with the idea of ​​inheriting heroic traditions and exploring the unknown.
Launched on April 24, the Shenzhou-20 Mission has successfully completed the change of crew with Shenzhou-19 and performed its first space walk on May 22, establishing a new record of speed between arrival in orbit and extraveibular activity. In addition, the team has been conducting a series of scientific experiments aboard the station.
