The three Chinese astronauts of the Shenzhou-19 manned mission returned to Earth on Wednesday (local time), after 183 days in orbit at Tiangong space station. China’s manned space agency (CMSA) stated that the mission was successfully completed.

The return capsule landed at 1 pm in the Dongfeng camp, in the autonomous region of Mongolia Interior, in the north of the country. At 2 pm, the crew had already left the capsule and, according to CMSA, are in good health.

The return process began at 12 noon, when Beijing’s Aerospace Control Center sent the orbital capsule separation command. Then the braking engine was opened and the return capsule shown the propulsion module, starting the controlled descent to the ground.

The Shenzhou-19 mission was marked by scientific experiments, maintenance of the space station and collaboration with the crew of the following mission, the Shenzhou-20, which remains in orbit. The successful return reinforces China’s advances in its manned space program, which consolidates itself as one of the most active in the world.
