Shanghai Disney Resort announced Tuesday that it will adopt a new nominal ticketing policy before the end of the year. The current rule is that a person can buy a maximum of five tickets with just one ID card. This makes it easier to buy tickets but risks scalpers.
The new policy aims to improve the guest experience and supports the government’s efforts to crack down on illegal commercial activity, according to Disney. Once the new policy is in place, each guest will be required to use their own government-issued ID to purchase a ticket — limited to one per day. These purchases can be made online or at the box office.
Opened in June 2016, Disney’s Shanghai resort is the company’s first and only resort destination on the Chinese mainland and its sixth in the world.
