Shah Rukh Khan, known as the “King of Bollywood,” is one of the most iconic and beloved figures in the Indian film industry. The noted actor was born on November 2, 1965, in New Delhi, India. He grew up in a middle-class family and attended St. Columba’s School, where he excelled in both academics and sports. He then studied Economics at Delhi University and later completed a Master’s degree in Mass Communication. Although he initially aspired to a career in sports, an injury took him away from that path and led him to acting.

Khan has been married to Gauri Khan, an interior designer and film producer, since 1991. The couple has three children: Aryan, Suhana and AbRam.

His beginnings in television

Shah Rukh Khan began his career on television, appearing in series such as Fauji (1988) y Circus (1989). She quickly gained popularity for her personality and acting style. While her first television roles were well received, her real rise to fame came with her transition to film in the early 1990s.

Khan made his film debut in 1992 with the film Deewanawhere he played a supporting role. His performance earned him the Filmfare Award for Best Newcomer. This was the moment that definitely marked the beginning of his rise in Bollywood.

In 2023, Khan returned to cinema, after a brief hiatus, with Pathan. This is an action movie that managed to become a box office hit.

Throughout his successful acting career, Shah Rukh Khan has amassed numerous awards and accolades. Among them, the prestigious Filmfare Awards stand out. The famous actor is among the most awarded in the Indian film industry, with a total of fourteen Filmfare Awards to his name.

These awards, given by Filmfare magazine, are considered one of the highest recognitions of talent in Bollywood. Among the categories in which he has been awarded, the Best Actor award stands out.

Furthermore, for his contributions to Indian cinema, he was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri Award in 2005. This is one of the highest civilian honours in the country. It is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions in various disciplines, including the arts.

Apart from his accolades in India, Shah Rukh Khan is widely recognised for his immense success in terms of viewership and box office collections.
